History

The rail line was originally constructed by the Memphis, Helena, and Louisiana Railroad in 1878. It was later acquired by the St. Louis, Iron Mountain & Southern Railway in 1901, and subsequently by the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1905. In 1982, Union Pacific acquired the line through its merger with Missouri Pacific. In 1988, Union Pacific sold the line to Delta Southern Railroad (DSRR). In 2011, when DSRR filed for abandonment, the Robbins family acquired the line through an Offer of Financial Assistance (OFA). The NLA provides reliable and customized transportation services to customers in Southeast Arkansas and Northeast Louisiana.
